Independent

As an independent consultancy, we are not tied to any single supplier. However, we can recommend trusted third‑party partners we have successfully worked with across multiple projects.

These include:

  • Security fencing manufacturers and installers

  • Security‑rated doors, kiosks, hatches, and other physical protection products

  • Electronic security solutions, including CCTV, access control, and intruder detection systems

  • Physical hardening products designed to enhance resilience against forced entry

Many products on the market use the term “security” in their description — but that doesn’t guarantee they are fit for purpose. We only recommend products that meet the stringent BRE Loss Prevention Standards.

What is LPS 1175?

LPS 1175 is one of several Loss Prevention Standards developed by the Loss Prevention Certification Board (LPCB). It focuses specifically on the performance of physical security products, including:

  • Strong‑points

  • Security enclosures

  • Free‑standing barriers

  • Doors, fencing, kiosks, and similar protective structures

How are LPS 1175 security ratings measured?

Under the current LPS 1175 Issue 8 standard, physical security products are rated using a combination of defined toolkits and timed attack scenarios. Instead of a one-size-fits-all score, the final security rating is determined by how long a product can resist a specific level of tools. To make the standard far more flexible, Issue 8 introduces six alternative delay ratings: 1, 3, 5, 10, 15, or 20 minutes. This allows security teams to mix and match the delay time with the specific threat level they expect, creating a much more tailored security solution.

How the Rating System Works.

A complete rating is an alphanumeric code (such as B3 or D10) built from two parts: The Toolkit (Letter A to H): represents the types of tools used in the test, ranging from basic hand tools (Category A) to heavy-duty, commercial power tools (Category H).The Delay Time (Number 1, 3, 5, 10, 15, or 20): represents the exact number of minutes the product successfully kept the attackers out.

Testimonials

Stuart Glen
HEAD OF Sales, Safetell LTD

I have known Simon for numerous years. I have worked for him, with him and alongside him. I have always found Simon to be a great source of knowledge particularly in the understanding of the several layers of security required in projects. These range from the various forms of physical preventative, deterrent and delaying security systems through to the integration of them to work in conjunction with electronic security systems providing warning, notification and visibility.

If I am undecided on a course of action, Simon is the person I consult with. He is able to look at the wider picture and other scenarios. He has a rare ability to provide insight and give practical advice based on experience and sound knowledge. His thought process enables him to be pragmatic and resourceful in the resolution of potential problems. That is why he is my ‘Go To’

head of resilience & SECURITY, strabag uk limited

I have worked with Simon for many years on multi-million-pound security projects on Critical National Infrastructure sites within the water industry. The stringent regulations and contractual obligations on such projects require a unique set of skills. These include a detailed understanding of security products and solutions, the ability to design, implement, operate and maintain a multi-site portfolio whilst operating within a strict budgetary environment. Simon excelled in every aspect of managing such large projects and led his teams with professionalism, attention to detail and he is always goal orientated based on outcomes.

As a leader Simon leads by example, his commitment to his teams and their development encourages and allows people around him to excel. Any company working with Simon or utilising his knowledge and experience will be gaining a distinct advantage in their security requirements.

Security is a hard sell… spending money on estates whereby the best result is ‘nothing happened’  is a cost most management boards will gamble with.. As such I cannot express the admiration I have for the transformation of security protocols that Simon Tuke has created, both with the creation of a mindset to make security everyone’s responsibility,  to creating a brilliant team who actively engage to ensure that safety and security are paramount to that business.  The total transformation that he created in getting the water industry as a whole, the senior management within the major utility companies and  contractors  to understand the risks,  design a pathway for securing  critical national infrastructure and then for them to engage with a security protocol mindset was game changing.  I can honestly say Simon is inspirational. He has the ability to quickly assimilate the risks and then create a programme to protect those businesses looking to understand their vulnerabilities, but moreover how to protect their clients and their customer base.
